JANGAON: A newborn boy was found abandoned on the roadside on Wednesday morning in Kilashapuram village, Raghunathpally mandal, Jangaon district.
Villagers found the baby at around 6:30 am after hearing him cry. They alerted the police, who rushed to the scene and informed the Child Welfare Department.
The officials then took the baby to the Primary Health Centre in Raghunathpally. The baby was experiencing respiratory difficulties and was transferred to the Mother and Child Hospital, Jangaon. The doctors said the baby is now in good health. He is currently in care of Women Development and Child Welfare officials.
S Raghunathpally sub-inspector D Naresh said the baby boy had been born just a couple of hours before he was found on the roadside.
The baby's parents have not yet been traced. "We have instructed ANM workers to check register of pregnant women," said police.
